Testimonials

"The atmosphere in the house is warm and homey. I always feel wanted and I feel that there is a certain amount of love in the centre, food and the staff and volunteers. Every time I come here the food is good and really delicious. I feel that people are here because they want to make a difference to others and it doesn’t matter if they earn money or not."

Louise

"The hot lunch program provides a wide variety of nutritious and tasty meals. As I am on a fixed income it is a huge benefit to be able to have a balanced meal with vegetables. The volunteers are so friendly and happy to be here. I look forward to coming for lunch."

Wendy

"Every time I come here I have a good and delicious lunch. It is also nice to be able to sit down with other women at the table and talk."

Evi

"This service is so important and it is definitely needed. It makes me feel welcome and fulfilled."

Brenda

"The hot lunch makes a difference to my life because otherwise I would go hungry without it and would even be malnourished. The food is comforting, delicious and nourishing. It is warm and friendly to be able to sit down with others and makes you realize that you are not alone and other people are struggling."

Erin

"The Hot Lunch Program saves my life – it is comforting and nourishing and free. I feel as if I am back with my big family all around the kitchen table. It is joyous and abundant."

Leanne

"The lunch makes me feel welcomed. As a busy single mom with no family I feel so special that someone has made lunch for me instead of me always making lunch for my children. The food is always very fresh and a different variety from different cultures. As a single mom I am always rushing and financially if I had to buy a small sandwich it would cost $5 or a cup of coffee is $2 so it helps me hugely to know that I can get a good lunch and coffee and social interaction with others."

Christine

"I feel grateful and appreciative to the Centre for providing a daily lunch. As a senior on a fixed income I don’t always have the money to buy lunch and if it was not for SFWSS’s lunch I would go hungry some days."

Carol

"As a disabled woman, without Monday’s lunch I would go hungry. I love the warmth of centre and to be able to talk to other women. The food is always hot, tasty and nutritious. The volunteers are warm and friendly and make me feel special."
